alindis-x.y.z-html.tar.gz/bz2 is the HTML-only download, which contains the HTML files and some necessary text files (README, AUTHORS, COPYING, ...).

alindis-x.y.z.tar.gz/bz2 is the full download - you get everything from the HTML-only package, as well as the book's XML source code, a fully working DocBook environment (DTD and XSL stylesheets, but no XSLT processor), more text files (Makefile, ...), and a lovely sandbox for your childish needs ;-) (currently containing source code packages for chapter 3, "Installation").
