|xitnalta.com/network: xitnalta.com - Alindis|
As you can see on the front page, there are several deadlines that keep me involved with Alindis. To simplify things a bit, I've dropped my work on the German bits of both the website and the project as a whole with the consent of Mr. Brunnschweiler.
The website is now built with an (ugly) XSLT stylesheet from XML files! The other improvements are: new design and PHP (and thus webserver) independency.
The new Alindis 0.0.2 tarballs (.gz and .bz2) are on the download page and an online version of the Alindis Documentation is also available. This version features a modified DocBook XSLT stylesheet for minor issues. Warning: There's still no interesting content in the Alindis Documentation!
The next step I'm thinking about is to create an experimental package management system using XML profiles. This idea is borrowed from ALFS, but the profiles in Alindis will look differently and can be validated through a DTD. The package management principles will be refined after looking at Debian's and Gentoo's package formats.
What a surprise, Xitnalta Alindis is featured on LWN.net, one of the few online publications I read regularly! It looks like Alindis is taking on a life of its own - not a very new phenomenon in the world of Free Software...
(Btw., I'm considering starting mailing lists or news groups or IRC channels or whatever sometime so interested people can participate easily. Right now I'm working on a German translation of the Documentation.)
New draft of the Alindis Documentation. The drafts are now much more readable for Lynx users :-).
I changed some details in the About section and started work on an Alindis tarball (alindis-0.0.1.tar.gz). I hope to be able to release it at this weekend.
New draft of the documentation.
Project integrated into the mysterious ;-) xitnalta.com/network.
Important information about the format of the Alindis documentation:
Today I made a partial draft of XCML, xcms' content markup language. However, these ideas interfere with the aliasing concept used in xcms. Aliasing has to be rewritten for XCML usage after xcms 0.6. Thus the format for the documentation will be DocBook in the meantime. I'm thinking about writing a DocBook module for xcms when XCML support is in place.
First outline of the Alindis documentation is online!
Website design and Alindis logo completed, the mirror at SunSITE.dk should be available in the next days. More information about the project on the About page.
Launched the Alindis project on SourceForge.net.
